2025 Red Gold Chili Cook-off & Run to Crush Hunger
The annual Red Gold Chili Cook-Off is back and scheduled for Saturday, October 11. The event is co-sponsored by Red Gold and the Elwood Chamber of Commerce and features an array of unique chili recipes, ranging in tastes from sweet-and-mild to hot-and-spicy. Each team of chili cooks receives complimentary Red Gold products for use in their recipe, and teams compete for cash prizes provided by Red Gold.
While waiting for the chili to cook and go on sale, visitors can shop for arts and crafts, fall products, homemade goodies, and much more offered by dozens of area vendors circling the fountain. Lively entertainment is provided throughout the day.
The event is held outside the Elwood Municipal Building, located at South B & Anderson Streets. Booths open at 8:30 a.m., with chili tasting beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The annual Red Gold Run to Crush Hunger is a 5K and 10K dash and 1-mile walk, held prior to the Cookoff in downtown Elwood. Registration and DAY OF packet pick-up begins at 8:00 a.m. outside the Elwood City Building, 1505 South B Street, with the 10K Run at 9:30 a.m., the 5K starting at 9:35 a.m., and the 1-mile walk at 9:40. Prizes are awarded for winners.
